Massively extend your knowledge-gathering power with Curiyo (Browser Extension)

So I'm reading a super-interesting article on Mega's plan for email privacy (well, interesting to me, anyway), and I start running into tech terms the make me scratch my head. What the heck is WebRTC? What's Perfect Forward Secrecy? No clue. In the old days I'd have to open a new browser tab and do a search for those geeky terms. No more!

With the Curiyo browser add-on I can simply click on the term (if it has a subtle dotted line under it, meaning that Curiyo found it an interesting term I might want to know more about), or long-click on any word in the text (if Curiyo either found the term uninteresting or thought I ought to know what it meant already, since I have a college degree for crying out loud).

Developer Description: "Curiyo saves you time and instantly brings relevant info to you without leaving the page!"

Features:

Long-click: This feature allows you to decide which topic you’d like to know more about, by just long-clicking the term for a full second.

Topic Detection: Curiyo automatically identifies interesting topics on the page you’re reading and subtly underlines them.

Relevant content: Curiyo gives you dynamic content from top publishers on the web.

Smart word detection: Curiyo is easy to use! If for instance you want to click on Lana Del Rey, there’s no need to select the whole name (all three parts of it), just long-click anywhere in the word.

Check out the screenshot to see an actual, real-life example of Curiyo in action!

HTML Mail (Internet Tools)

Developer Quote: "Compose rich-text HTML mails (with inline images and tables) and send them to anyone with a click. Your messages will look the same across all email clients."

Plain text emails have their place, I'll admit, but there are times when they just won't do. Can we all agree on this? Good. So, when you want to jazz up (what a dated expression!) your emails, check out this web tool. It's got a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor so you can avoid the coding, but you can also easily switch to HTML view to fiddle with the coding yourself. A very useful tool. Check it out!

Ninite.com (PC) - Easy and secure way to update your applications

Ninite is the best kept secret of PC power users and IT professionals. It's the best way to install or update your essential PC applications, for several reasons.

First, it makes the task as simple as possible. All you have to do is select the applications you want from the main web page, then click on the Get Installer button at the bottom. Once the installer is downloaded, you run it and it installs or updates your selected applications. What's more, you can run that same installer again and again and it will update those apps to their latest versions.

Second, it's secure. Many of these free applications try to persuade you to allow them to change your search engine, your browsers home page, or just add applications you don't want. Ninite bypasses all of these and simply installs or updates the programs you choose.

So you'll always have the latest versions, and you'll get them simply and cleanly. It's awesome. Check it out.

Pinterest - A cool virtual bulletin board!

As you roam to a fro on the web, how do you organize what you find? There are various means of doing this but this one seems like it wins the prize for ease and flexibility. From the developers:

"Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes."

Twitter is starting to look more like Facebook, don't you think? With major updates to its interface on the web, Android and iOS, it not only looks better, it's easier to use in the ways you want to use it.

Don't know about you but it seems to me that Twitter has been overrun with Internet marketing crap, to the point where it's difficult to find your way through it all. The new layout and features may just solve this. (At the time of this writing, not everyone has access to the new web app, but it will come.) Check it out...
